The rotating dome of the Southern African Large Telescope at Sutherland is represented in its current state with the observing shutter closed and separated from the lower building. The operator and drive manufacturer independently describe it as a 25 m diameter hemisphere weighing about 30 t; its hemispherical cap height is therefore 12.5 m.
