IRAM 30-Meter Telescope (Current)

The IRAM 30-meter telescope on Pico Veleta is shown in its current appearance after the 2023–2024 drive-system renewal and primary-reflector repaint, excluding surrounding buildings and temporary infrastructure. The strict orthographic front elevation uses the documented zenith engineering configuration as a standard comparison pose. Current source tracking is limited to 88°, so the exact 90° orientation is not presented as the operational tracking limit. Uniform scale comes from the internal 30 m aperture, while the approximately 29.8 m outer height is transparently derived from IRAM's calibrated engineering cross-section.

Measurement basis

The internal 30 m reflector aperture is the only visual scale anchor. The approximately 29.8 m zenith-pose height is derived by calibrating IRAM engineering cross-section Fig. 2 to the documented aperture: (896 drawing units from ground to elevation axis + 642 units from axis to the rotated secondary-housing top) / 1,547 aperture units × 30 m = 29.83 m. ITU-R's separate 31 m receiver-reference height corroborates the scale but is not treated as total height. The exact zenith orientation is a documented comparison pose, while the current tracking limit is 88°.
